Clubs, schools, historical societies and social groups are welcome by arrangement — £2 per head, up to 20 people, with two weeks' notice.
Book a group visitRunning every Saturday from September to Christmas 2026, Transport through the Ages traces how people and goods have moved around Wirral and beyond — from journeys on foot and horseback to the ages of sail, steam, road and flight.
The exhibition launches alongside the museum's Heritage Day on Saturday 12 September, part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days festival, and then continues as the museum's main temporary display through the autumn and into the Christmas period.
What's on display
The display follows transport's long history: early journeys on foot and by horse and cart; the age of sail and steam at sea; the coming of the railways; and the arrival of the motor car and powered flight. It's shown alongside the museum's permanent collection of carved stones from St Bridget's Church, spanning more than 1,000 years of local history.
Visiting
The exhibition is on display every Saturday from September to Christmas 2026, during the museum's usual opening hours of 10am to 1pm. Admission is free, with no need to book.
