Last updated: 17 August 2026. This notice covers the temporary museum website and its enquiry form.
Who we are
West Kirby Museum is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. You can contact us using the website enquiry form or by writing to West Kirby Museum, St Bridget’s Centre, St Bridget’s Lane, West Kirby, Wirral CH48 3JT.
Information we collect
When you send an enquiry, we collect your first and last name, email address, message, and your acknowledgement of this notice. Web3Forms may also process limited technical information, such as an IP address and server logs, to deliver the message and prevent abuse.
Why we use it
We use your information to receive, manage and reply to your enquiry, keep appropriate correspondence records, and protect the form from spam or misuse. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: operating the museum, communicating with visitors and maintaining the security of our website. Where your message asks us to take steps before entering into an agreement, that may also be our lawful basis.
We do not add enquiry details to a marketing list, sell them, or use them for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who receives your information
Authorised museum volunteers may access enquiries where needed to respond. The form is delivered using Web3Forms, which acts as a service provider. Web3Forms says it forwards submissions without storing their contents, although limited server logs may be retained for up to two months. Its servers are in the United States and its operator is based in India, so information may be processed outside the UK. We use service providers only where appropriate data-protection arrangements are in place.
How long we keep it
We normally retain enquiry correspondence for up to 12 months after the enquiry is resolved. We may keep it longer where reasonably necessary for an ongoing research request, booking, complaint, legal obligation or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. We then securely delete it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal information; object to or restrict its use; or ask for a portable copy. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint for details.
Providing your name, email address and message is necessary if you want us to answer through the form. If you do not provide them, we cannot respond.
